Costumes

Main Character - Amy French

As our main character is just a normal, typical girl we decided to keep the costume casual. We decided that Amy should wear everyday clothes that she would normally wear as it made her character more believable. Also as she would be wearing her own clothes, should would feel more comfortable, hopefully making the filming more relaxed therefore making Amy feel less stressed about it and giving a better performance.

Murderer - Becky Price

We decided that the murderer should be dressed in all black as we are planing to film at dusk so the character will be able to be seen but only slightly so it will be mysterious. We were going to find a black hat and cut eye holes into it, however we discovered that knitted snood can be pulled over the head and you can see through the holes which we thought was effective.

Cast

We cast Amy French (left) as the main part in our film opening and Becky Price (right) as our murderer. We decided to go with these two over our other options because we felt that they had the most impressive previous acting experience. We also thought they gave the most convincing drama performance when we asked them to in their interview.

Our only animal cast member is Willow, she features only for a short amount of time towards the end of the opening to the film.

Our chosen film institution

Lions gate entertainment corporation

We decided to use this institution for our film because it releases lots of horror films so we thought it would be a suitable institution. We also thought that the colours of this logo was quite spooky and mysterious and would set the genre of a horror film, especially as lots of horror films are often connoted with reds and dark colours which prominently feature in the Lionsgate logo. We chose this institution over something like dreamworks because they generally create films aimed at younger audiences which isn't our target audience, so therefore not suitable.

Film name

We have decided to call our film 'The Visitors' this name is inspired from the film 'The Strangers.' We did have other names to consider thought about 'When a Killer Calls...' and 'One Missed Call' however we thought that 'The Visitors' was more of an effective name. We did also consider calling it 'The Visitor' as we only have one person in our storyboard as the murderer, although we did not think this was such a good name. We decided to go for 'The Visitors' as our film name because we thought that it was mysterious as it is quite vague so anything could happen. This attracts a wider ranged audience because it doesn't give anything specific about the film away and make it predictable. We are now experimenting with opening title sequences and how the words 'The Visitors' look best.

More location pictures (idea one)

This is the window we are going to do our first shot through, we took some photos in different lighting so we can start thinking about the lighting we are going to use during our filming.

This is the path we want to film our main character walking up, however even with the flash on the shot is very dark. This is useful to see as it may mean we need to rethink our idea of filming at dusk.

This is the stable we hope to film our main character walking into, then we want to film an over the shoulder shot out of the stable where we see the 'mysterious' person run past. This should work well as the lighting from inside the stable should make the shot where the camera is looking out the stable just about distinguishable giving it a mysterious feeling.

These photos are from inside the barn which we are going to use in our film, these photos are useful as they show different areas of the barn so we can decide which part we want to use.

Overall these photos are useful to refer back to when we're filming because we can make sure that things stay the same in each shot to ensure continuity in our filming.
